Charles Lehnen is a Ph.D. student in the University of Southern California's Integrative Biology program. He is an ecologist who primarily works at the community level with interests including eco-evolutionary dynamics, ecosystem services, community assembly, nutrient flow, and trophic cascades.

His current research focuses on detailing how Galapagos tortoises engineer their ecosystems. Spatial science is a key aspect to this research as visualizing, analyzing and modeling the cascading effects of Galapagos tortoises on other biota across island landscapes is at the core of his research goals.
