SSI PhD Student Accepts Internship at Esri

Kaveh Shahabi, SSI PhD student in Computer Science has accepted an internship position at the Esri Application Prototype Lab for the summer. Kaveh will join Esri and become part of a talented team of students that will create innovative mapcentric infographic displays and integrate web services and geoprocessing for web-based analysis to solve real-world problems.

The APL is an applied R&D group staffed by creative thinkers and developers with deep technical expertise. All projects the group works on are done on a pro-bono basis and typically have an environmental, emergency response, or national security focus. Recent projects include work for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, 192021.org, Recovery.gov, FEMA, and the Greenbelt Movement.

The faculty, staff, and students of SSI couldn’t be prouder of Kaveh’s accomplishment in securing this highly competitive internship opportunity at one of the leading software companies in the world.
