Spatial Analysis and High Rent

USC Spatial Sciences Institute Founding Director and Professor John P. Wilson, Ph.D., was a featured speaker at a recent program presented by the USC Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics on “Gentrification, Densification, and Why Rent Is Too Damn High.”

Joining Wilson on stage at the October 3, 2017 event were Richard Close, President, Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association; Christine Rangel, Director of Government Affairs, BIA-LAV; and Sudha M. Reddy, Managing Principal, Haven Realty Capital, LLC. Robert M. Shrum, Director, Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics and Carmen H. and Louis Warschaw Chair in Practical Politics, moderated the discussion which delved into whether Los Angeles needs significantly more development to bring down housing costs.

The event was part of the “Debating the Issues with Pro-Con at USC" series in partnership with ProCon.org, a non-partisan organization devoted to balanced, fact-based analysis of controversial issues.
