Southern California Association of Governments-USC Spatial Sciences Institute Internship Program: Connect SoCal Initiative Use Case
Learn what it’s like to be a GIS intern and the value of doing a GIS internship in the SSI internship program.
As part of its University Partnership Program, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) partners with the USC Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) to provide students with the opportunity to contribute to SCAG’s Connect SoCal initiative, its Regional Transportation Plan as part of its Sustainable Communities Strategy.
Hear from GeoDesign majors Will Forker and Sophie Beck on how they have worked with Tom Vo, SCAG’s Senior Regional Planner, Planning Strategy Department, and Jung Seo, SCAG’s Regional Planner Specialist, Modeling and Forecasting Department. Will and Sophie will present the results of their internship, in which they performed spatial database management, conducted research and data analysis, performed geoprocessing, and provided GIS services.
