Analyzing Geospatial Data with NASA’s Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS)
Sydney Neeley, Remote Sensing Scientist at the Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) at the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center

NASA’s Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS) assists you with extracting valuable information from geospatial data from several federal data archives. AppEEARS provides a user-friendly interface for reducing the amount of time and effort traditionally required to perform spatial and temporal subsets, reproject and mosaic data, and visualize data values graphically. More than 80 geospatial data products are available and applicable for a variety of disciplines. Types of data products in AppEEARS include Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and global population data. A demonstration will be given of the functionalities of AppEEARS and use case examples will be explored for submitting both point (geographic coordinate pairs) and area (vector polygons) requests.
