John Wilson elected to International Society for Digital Earth council

Guo Huadong, President of the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and Professor with the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has announced that John P. Wilson has been elected as a council member of the ISDE for a two-year term from September 2019 – September 2021. Wilson is the founding director and professor of the Spatial Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, California.

Founded in 2006, the ISDE is a participating organization in the Group on Earth Observations and an affiliated member of the International Science Council. The society also publishes the International Journal of Digital Earth and the journal Big Earth Data.

The ISDE will be holding its 11th International Symposium on Digital Earth in Florence, Italy, from September 24-27, 2019. This year’s symposium will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the symposium which was initiated in Beijing in 1999.
