“Location intelligence is a rapidly expanding field across many of my business customers and keeping up with all the various technical skill sets gives me a competitive advantage over the competition. The USC GIST program was the only one I found that allowed me to master my geo-spatial knowledge base while still allowing me to grow in my career at Google.

Recently I completed the field excursion to USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies on Catalina Island. We got to utilize high-accuracy GPS, GIS and an Android based Wi-Fi signal strength tool to map out various Wi-Fi coverage areas for the campus and surrounding areas.

Not only was this a great real-world example of defining a spatial project, but also allowed me to work with cutting-edge hardware, software and building out a workflow that resulted in a finished product. All the fieldwork happened in parallel to working in a collaborative team environment of peers who have very diverse backgrounds.”
