Zige Zhou is from Beijing, China. She earned her bachelor’s degree from New York University majoring in psychology analysis. She arrived in California to join the M.S. in Spatial Economics and Data Analysis (SEDA) Program.

Since joining the Spatial Sciences Institute, Zige has learned how to integrate spatial elements into economics and econometrics as well as various GIS techniques for comprehensive data analysis. She credits her coursework with improving her learning and researching capabilities and has developed software skills such as Python, Rstudio and ArcGIS Pro, all useful and necessary tools for any data scientist.

Zige has interned as a research analyst at Charles R. Weber Company, where she did research and data analysis for one of the oldest and largest ship brokerage firms in the United States. As an intern, she produced reports and projections about shipping dynamics and freight rates.
