GIS Day Events Raise Spatial Science Awareness on Campus

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

SSI’s GIS Day events attracted students from around campus and the attention of campus media outlets.

Informational sessions on the new BS major in GeoDesign were filled, informing students on the innovative new program that draws on expertise and coursework from Spatial Sciences, Planning, and Architecture.

Dr. Darren Ruddell and students from his maps and spatial reasoning course launched a Do-It-Yourself aerial photography rig — a weather balloon and GoPro camera — to great interest on campus.

The events were recorded in stories on the front page of The Daily Trojan (Students launch balloon to capture data) and on Annenberg Radio (A balloon’s eye view of USC).

Further information about the GeoDesign major is readily available for interested students.
