The USC Dornsife Spatial Sciences Institute seeks a Program Specialist to support the administration of its wide-ranging academic programs and research initiatives.
Working with the Institute Managing Director and reporting to its Academic Programs Director, this position will provide critical support in data management, marketing and communications, advancement, and event management. The major job responsibilities are to provide the administrative underpinning required to capture, analyze, and communicate the value and actionable impact of the Institute’s 17 residential and online academic undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs and the Institute faculty-student research in multi-disciplinary fields.
Examples of key responsibilities include coordinating the event logistics signature Institute annual events, such as the Institute’s one-day conference, Commencement, and a major conference reception; coordinating speaker series and other events which engage the Institute’s external community with its students; supporting internship and jobs placement of Institute students; and supporting longitudinal and other assessment of the Institute’s academic programs.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented; will enjoy working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students; is comfortable with multitasking and working with numerous concurrent projects; and will have strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with various members across the USC community and with external partners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and is someone excited by new opportunities. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in program specialization, e.g., counseling or teaching.
