The majors and minors of the Spatial Sciences Institute had the chance to meet and greet one another on Friday afternoon, August 28, 2021 in person and by Zoom in the SSI conference room to kick off the new academic year.

"We just wanted to be with you," said Dr. Laura C. Loyola, assistant professor (teaching) and director of undergraduate studies. Also on hand to celebrate with the students were Dr. John P. Wilson, professor and founding director of the Institute; Dr. Jennifer N. Swift, associate professor (teaching); Susan H. Kamei, SSI Managing Director; and Dairon Caro, SSI program specialist.

After the chance to share what have been some of their highs and lows of the past several months and, for the incoming students, what it's like to experience the campus for the first time, they mingled to get to know one another -- behind masks, of course.

All of the faculty and staff of the Spatial Sciences Institute wish all of our students a healthy and productive semester. Please come by any time and we look forward to getting acquainted and re-acquainted.
