“I just started this week as a GIS Specialist for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii. My position is a full-time, permanent job working with an Archaeological research group contracted by the Department of Defense at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. They need me to create purchase orders for new GPS/GIS equipment and sort out the GIS, so we can update old site files and be able to share data with other GIS users on the base. I’ll also be training them to collect GPS points in the field and enter the data into the database. Because they are a cultural resources firm working with the Army, the data has dual sensitivity and there are many security issues to acknowledge so this will be a fun yet challenging job for me.
It’s definitely a dream job in paradise.”
