As a psychology major, I am amused by human behavior and revel in understanding what motivates other people. I am particularly interested in the macro trends of crime in foreign countries to help establish efficient preventative methods. After undergrad, I would like to continue learning as a graduate student and specialize in criminal psychology.
I was drawn to the Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence minor because it would help me gain the practical and technical skills needed to achieve my goals of working in criminal psychology. I believe the HSGI minor provides us with knowledge of GIS that is invaluable for surveying, monitoring and preventing security breaches. The Spatial Sciences Institute’s courses I have taken so far have opened my eyes to how much discipline goes into creating and maintaining surveillance systems. I intend on using my spatial skills to monitor and prevent future terrorist groups from breaching our national security.
