Apply now for 2019-2020 SSI Undergrad Research Projects

The Spatial Sciences Institute is now accepting applications for undergraduate student researchers to work with SSI faculty on their funded undergrad research projects for the 2019 - 2020 academic year.

Project descriptions, the application requirements and the application process are described in this memo. Please email your complete application materials to Susan Kamei, Spatial Sciences Institute managing director, at kamei@usc.edu. Applications will close as of 5 pm on Friday, July 26, 2019.

This year's projects include solar development in Southeastern California, the relationship between water access/insecurity and health among the Los Angeles homeless population, monitoring the sustainability of the USC campuses using geospatial technologies, leveraging high-cadence data to detect and track mass migration, 3D geovisualization and spatial analysis of Ice Age fossils excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits, "Superblocks" for Los Angeles and working with the Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and the LA Mayor's Data Team.

Priority will be given to majors and minors of the Spatial Sciences Institute, but applications from all majors, minors and academic programs throughout the University are welcome. Students of all class standing (including incoming freshmen or transfer students) also are welcome to apply.
