The USC Spatial 
Sciences Institute is the only North American member of the UNIGIS International Association, a global network of higher education institutions dedicated to recognizing international standards in the design, development, and delivery of distance learning Geographic Information Science and Systems (GIS) programs.
Since 1992, UNIGIS has been enhancing the competence of GIS professionals worldwide.
SSI Founding Director John P. Wilson and faculty attend annual UNIGIS business meetings and participate in UNIGIS workshops to further research and curriculum development in GIS online education.
