Han Shen earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Affair Management from Renmin University of China with an emphasis in population studies and health policies. Her B.A. thesis studied the effects of migrant children on their migrant parents’ health conditions. She completed her master’s degree in Public Policy at the University of Southern California.
During her graduate studies, she further explored topics in migrant population and health inequalities with quantitative models and spatial analysis methods, such as gender differences among migrants and spatial relationship between food desert and obesity rate. She also gained experience in working with Asian migrants in LA to facilitate community projects aimed at improving their skills of wellness practice and seeking health services.
She is interested in understanding the influences of socioeconomic and spatial factors on health inequalities and, specifically, female migrants’ health service utilizations.
