Would you like to make a real humanitarian impact? Team up with fellow students, faculty and staff at USC, UCLA, LA Metro, Reitaku University in Japan and Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg in Germany to make mapping entries in the OpenStreetMap (OSM) platform in support of humanitarian projects focused on protecting the environment and improving sustainability.
Last year’s mapathon combining USC and UCLA forces was one of the world’s largest single-day events with 150 mappers collectively mapping 17, 126 buildings. Our goal this year that now includes international partners is to break last year’s record by mapping more than 20,000 buildings.
No GIS skills required! We provide training on OSM. Participation can be in person or virtually.
Please visit https://mapathon.la/ to see the agenda of speakers and training. This event is being held during Earth Week 2023, with a special focus to provide map data that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
