I’m from Hubli, India and received a bachelor of engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological Institute. Prior to coming to USC, I worked for HCL Technologies as a senior software engineer. After gaining experience in coding, I became interested in working on the application side, such as in data mining and analysis.

I’m optimistic about this Spatial Informatics program as it combines data informatics and spatial sciences. Both areas are unique, and job candidates with this combination of technical knowledge are highly sought after. In the USC Spatial Informatics program, I enjoyed learning new software tools such as SAS, ArcGIS and CityEngine, which facilitate data analysis and coding for 3-D models.

After graduating with the M.S. in Spatial Informatics degree in May 2017, I joined SAP as a Big Data Engineer, where I am integrating the Hadoop eco-system with Spark and HDFS, and implementing algorithms of I learned in the SPIF program's Machine Learning and Data Mining courses.

[Note: Nandan was in this program when it was called "Spatial Informatics," now called "Spatial Data Science."]
