Trang VoPhamIn her research at USC, GIST graduate Trang VoPham investigated pesticide exposure at different scales, combining traditional spatial units such as zip codes and census tracts with remotely sensed data. This research, leading to VoPham's M.S. in May 2014, has just been recognized by an Award of Excellence from UNIGIS International Association, the consortium of online GIS academic programs.

VoPham's thesis was named the runner-up in the international competition, ranking second in a field described as containing "excellent high quality MSc theses" by the UNIGIS selection panel.  In addition to her GIST degree, VoPham holds an MPH in Epidemiology and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh.  Her work at USC is emblematic of the research opportunities found in a close integration between spatial analysis and public health.
