One of the primary goals of the Spatial Sciences Institute is to build a centralized repository of USC obtained and/or created spatial data layers for use by USC faculty, staff, and students. Our hope is to organize and store these data such that members of the USC community can find easily find what they need and avoid wasting time and/or money resources re-downloading and/or re-assembling them.
The USC Spatial Sciences Insitute maintains several terabytes of GIS data layers that can be accessed by all USC students, faculty, and staff for use in course and research projects.
If you are a student, staff, or faculty member who is creating data during your courses or research that you think someone might have a use for in the future, you might consider letting us store it for you. Similarly, if you run an academic program that provides data to faculty or students which you think would be useful to other USC researchers or students, we’d be happy to take a look at storing and serving it to make sure it’s utilized to its fullest.
