The Spatial Sciences Institute’s offers core geospatial infrastructure (hardware, software, services, data, and expertise) to help build and sustain a community of scholars who use spatial analysis, modeling and mapping in their everyday work.

GPS Hardware

The GIS Research Lab maintains numerous GPS devices which can be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis by USC faculty, staff and students. We will even help train you on how to use it!

Web Services

Plotting Services

The GIS Research Lab offers large format map and poster plotting services for a fee on our HP Design Jet 750C and 5500 plotters, for any USC ID holder. Click here to learn more about prices and protocols.

Project Consulting

The GIS Research Lab provides technical services for researchers who have grant funding. This collaboration may take a variety of forms but a common model is one in which the researcher provides us with the project data and we perform the analysis and deliver the results with technical documentation.

Help Desk

USC faculty, staff and students can stop by the GIS Research Lab Help Desk on UPC (AHF B55) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Mondays, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, as well as other times by appointment (call Melissa Salido at 213-740-5910 to get started), or via e-mail (spatialhelp@dornsife.usc.edu) anytime.

You may use the help desk to garner additional help and guidance with all of your spatial analysis, modeling and mapping needs.

Spatial Roundtables

The faculty affiliated with the Spatial Sciences Institute host complimentary lunch meetings to discuss spatial matters at the University Club on the following dates : November 6, December 11 , February 5, March 5, April 16, and May 7.
